Adidas Tricolore (France 1998)

Origin of the name: "Tricolor" is a way of referring to the national team of a country with a 3-color flag, in this case, the host country is distinguished by white, blue, and red.

Design: Its design is inspired by the head of a rooster, the official animal of the host country.

Innovation: It includes a layer of "synthetic foam", an advanced compact material composed of microbubbles filled with gas, individually sealed and very resistant, increasing the durability of the ball.

Legacy: It was the first multi-coloured ball, leaving behind the neutral colours of black and white.

Official seal: It was the first ball to include the FIFA Approved seal to distinguish it from cheap soccer balls for training and casual fun, replacing the symbol included in the two previous FIFA World Cup balls.

Note: It was the first ball made outside Europe due to changes in manufacturing costs. In this case, Morocco was chosen, although some official match ball units were made in Pakistan.

For the first time, an exclusive variant was created for the FIFA Women's World Cup. The Icon used the same technology as the Tricolore, with the difference that the colors and design were already inspired by the host country of that year (United States 1999).
